Encounters of Holocaust survivors and Israeli Arabs.

After my 2 visits in the concentration-death camps in Poland, I have decided to create encounters of Israeli-Arab people with the Holocaust.
As a teacher in the Middle school “Ibn-Sina” in Kalanswa, I am working in two dimensions:
1. Teaching the Holocaust to Israeli – Jewish and Arab pupils as a tool to increase hope and understanding for the youth who live in a complex and painful reality. This project is initiated and managed by me and by Nili Gross (manager of Multi Cultural Projects), and Yonat klar (head of the Educational Center in Beit Terezin), and is being taught in Beit Terezin – the Museum of Getto Terezienstadt in the Czech Republic.
2. Encounters of Holocaust survivors with Arab-Israeli pupils and parents, in order to hear their testimony and to show respect and sympathy to them.
In these meetings, we all meet at the house of the survivor who gets a letter of
Identification and flowers.
The survivor, usually an old person, sits in his/her own surrounding and tell his/her story to the people around.
My aim in this doing is to create sympathy and understanding between the Jewish and the Arab Israeli population, through the pain, which derives from the trauma of the Holocaust, and the understanding of the legitimacy of having Israel as a Jewish-Democratic state.
Frida Hershlkovich, Holocaust survivir, with Otman Hatib, and pupils and parents of the “Ibn Sina” Middle School.
Frida Hershlkovich, Holocaust survivir,
Telling her experiences during the 2nd world war to Otman Hatib and the rest of the group.

Elfi
Hello Otman,
Nice to see you again, again as a bussy and engaged teacher .People like you are on the way to make the world to become better! Israel should be very proud that there are some, espacially from the Arabic world, who check what is the way to do for the future. I had also some survivors from the Nazi time at my school , to talk about their experiences
with the crime -regime.
See you soon and be happy
yours Elfi
