PESSACH SAMEACH
peacecamp, 23:01h
The Jews are celebrating Passover (Pessach) these days; it commemorates the story of the exodus of the Jewish People from Egypt, their march trough the desert Sinai, receiving the 10 commandments and establishing the Jewish people.
You can read about it in http://www.holidays.net/passover/story.html
I want to wish CHAG SAMEACH (a happy holiday) - freedom, peace and happiness to all who are celebrating it.
I know that the Christians are celebrating Easter a few days later - so happy Easter to all who are celebrating it.
Evelyn

Dear Nili and Evelin and all of the teachers,
ich denke jede minute and das peacecamp =)
ich denke jede minute and das peacecamp =)
30 seconds to mars, 00:40h
There must be a second peacecamp! I mean, we all talk on the icq, messenger and through mails, and I'm sure that everyone miss each other very musch! It's a pitty to think that we wont be able to meet. For some of us, this is the only chance to see everyone, just for example, my parents don't want me to visit another country with no supervision of an adult, and I really want to see all participants! Once we all said goodbye on the airport in Klagenfurt, we thought we'll meet again, and that was a huge cheer up, you know... So, do your best, I'm sure there's a way to arrange it =)
And we're all willing to help.
So, in case you have some news about it, please keep us posted.
I MISS YOU ALL GUYS AND LOVE YOU!
Yours,
Lihi (aka, Eden's primitive pet).

Evelin (and everybody else),
30 seconds to mars, 15:08h
Succoth is an 8-day Biblical pilgrimage festival. In Judaism it is one of the most important Jewish holidays.
Succoth commemorates the life of the Israelites in the desert during their journey to the Promised Land, the land of Israel. During their wandering in the desert they lived in booths (Succoth - the Hebrew term).
The Torah directs Jews to use four species of plants to celebrate the holiday: the Lulav (palm branch), the Etrog (lemon-like citron), Myrtle and Willow.
Succoth is a very predial holiday: its being celebrates every year at the end of the agricultural period (time of the harvest) and that's why it's a happy holiday. It's also very predual because it involves plants (the four species), and because of the sleeping outside of the houses in the booths.
I hope its enough understandable...
Yours,
Lihi.

hallo to everybody and shana towa
peacecamp, 00:59h
Hallo everybody.
SHANA TOWA means : a happy New Year.
For the Jews, monday october 3rd of this year (2005) is the eve of the NEW YEAR, called "ROSH HASHANA". Jewish holidays always begin on the evening before, and last until the sunset, of the actual holiday.
The Jewish calendar follows the cycle of the moon, and this is the reason why the Jewish New Year does not coincide with a fix date of the Gregorian calendar.
10 days after ROSH HASHANA Jews celebrate YOM KIPPOR, the Day of Atonement. This is the day to make PEACE - with GOD, with your friends, with your enemies and with yourself. You pray GOD to forgive your sins and ask him to write you in the book of life. And you promise to do better in the New Year than you did before....
I personally cherish Yom Kippor, which is a day of fasting and praying - or, if you are not that religious, of contemplation and meditation. There is always place to do better in your attitude and your dealing with those around you. We can use Yom Kippor to reconsider, to judge and to improve our attitudes, our relations and actions towards others and even to ourselves.
I therefore want to ask everybody, kids or adults, Jews, Moslems or Christians, to forgive me for anything I did, willingly or unwillingly, that upset you or that hurt your feelings. I shake your hand and send you all a BIG HUG and a hearty wish for PEACE

nili writes to us in september 2005, after the summer-camp:
peacecamp, 22:28h
Hello all,
On Friday, afternoon, the 9.9. 05 we all met at Ha'ogen Kibutz, by the swimming pool, where Keren lives.
Also some of the previous members of the Jewish group came, in addition to the participants of summer 2005..
Reem and Ami led a discussion about the Disengagement Plan (Leaving Gaza), and then read a Rap song of an Israeli-Arab group in Arabic and Hebrew.
The participant have emphasised their commitment for peace and co-existence and we have decided to visit 2 families - an Arab and a Jewish family who lost their children in a terror attack. Hopefully in the end of the month.
The groups really want to have a spring project here in Israel.
I would like to know whether it is considered possible for the Austrians and the Slovenians to come to Israel around March-April for a week.
Yours, Nili

who will write an article for "Die Gemeinde"?
peacecamp, 01:32h
Who of you wants to write an article for the journal of the Austrian Jewish Community "Die Gemeinde"??
The article should be here until the 13th of the month, so that i can pass it on to the journal before the 15th.
Of course each of you could write an individual article, but you could also do it together with one or two friends.
BIG HUG

For those who were away and/or forgot, here are the questions once more:
1. Do you remember a particular experience or event during the camp, which was important to you? Please write down this experience/event and indicate what you did learn from it. Let yourself be guided by your own deepest feelings.
2. Please write down in a few words what you disliked during the camp: what was a FLOP for you? Give at least one answer.
3. Please write down in a few words what you liked during the camp: what was TOP for you?
Give at least one answer
