times goes by really quickly, just think. lkast year at about this time we were all trying to cantact each other, starting to write e-mails and getting to know each other. And one year later I am already losing contact, and that's not good. But my time is really rare you can believe me. I always try to find time but I often can't manage. ...So I promise to write, cause I don't want to lose you!!!!!!

Good evening guys. I hope the Austrians and Slovenes are having a great Sunday, off school, and us, the Israelis, having a lovely time studying. I decided to write you all something, sort of a closing, now that it's pretty obvious we'll have no second Peacecamp. So, I just wanted to tell you that you are awesome! I enjoyed spending these nine days with you! You made me laugh and smile during the whole camp, and made me cry nonstop during our final goodbye. Therefore, I wanted to tell you that even though I might never see you guys again, I will always remember you. I mean, we had a great time there. The Peacecamp was definitely an unforgettable experience; the soccer games, the dancing time with Gabrielle, even Ehud's meetings, discovering new food and tastes in the Rechberg's kitchen, just hanging around with you on the stairs, painting with you, viewing the amazing dripstones cave etc. I do hope to meet you again in the future. In the meanwhile, have a lovely time! Enjoy school and friends. Good luck with everything! And Evelin, good luck with the 2006 camp.
Thank you all for everything! You guys taught me alot! Thanks Nili, Evelin and everyone else! And I do mean EVERYONE!

Project: Spurensuche/ Back to the Roots 2006

The youth exchange project Spurensuche/ Back to the Roots is initiated by the Republic of Austria and takes place every year since 1994. This year 15 Israelis are invited to visit Austria for 10 days and join 15 Austrians for a trip through “landscape and history”. Besides cultural exchange, new friendships and the chance to get an individual insight into nowadays Austrian society, the main objective of this project is to offer the possibility to trace the roots and marks of your family and relatives in Austria - and to be joined for this task by young Austrians. For this reason we are looking for people with close family connections to Austria and a high personal motivation to visit the country/land of their ancestors and/ or to look into archival files. The young Austrians will also be chosen according to their commitment and seriousness to look into their own family biography as well as to their interest to meet people from Israel.

Among other things the program entails:
A one-and-a-half-days hiking tour in the Austrian mountains (bring your rain-jacket and real hiking boots ), a visit to the memorial site of the former concentration camp of Mauthausen, encounter with today’s Jewish life and culture in Austria. Furthermore, a visit to the National Fund of the Republic of Austria, which deals with claims of and restitution payments for the victims of the Holocaust is envisaged. And there is more besides lots of fun...

What we expect from you:
 Age: 17 to 25 years, good communication skills in English
 Israelis: People with close family connection to Austria, e.g. grandparents who lived in Austria and fled to Israel.
 Austrians: commitment to deal with the Second World War-period and the Holocaust, especially in the context of your own family.
 Openness, Sensibility and Motivation.
 Compulsory participation in the preparation seminar.

What you might want to know:
 You will have to pay for your flight to Austria. During your stay your expenses (food, travel, acommodation) will be fully covered by the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs and Generations.

Hello! I just came back home from my tenth grade Arabic class "Gadna", also known as Youth Battalions! Anyway, At first, I didn't want to take part in it because of the simple fact that I'm not a fan of any army [AND OF COURSE - CHEWING GUMS ALL OVER THE PLACE, under the beds and chairs! Those who understand, good for them, those who don't, sorry :) truly am sorry), but anyway, IT WAS AMAZING! I had so much fun meeting people from all around the country, learning so much about the Arabic language and the Arabic countries around the Middle East. It was the best thing ever BESIDES THE PEACECAMP OF COURSE AS NOTHING CAN BE COMPARED TO IT! [PEACECAMP ROCKS!].
So, at the moment I CAN'T WAIT TO JOIN THE ARMY! I don't know, it made me feel... hmm... alot more patriot than I was, I mean, ever since the peacecamp I became much of a patriot than I was before July 2005, but now, even more! I believe I'll join the intelligence department... after all, the entire Gadna was based on it. You know... learning Arabic and stuff.
Just for the recored, Ori, Keren and Coral joined the Gadna as well! I'm sure they enjoyed as I did! Unbelievable experience :)

For Evelin, YEAH! I did watched the opening of the Olympic games, and I was amazed! It's so beautiful! I mean, so artistic, completely AMAZING!

Stellen Sie sich vor, es gibt eine Winter-Olympiade, und keinen Schnee. Vor
diesem Dilemma standen die Organisatoren der olympischen Winterspiele, die
am 10. Februar im italienischen Turin stattfinden. Die Lösung für das
Problem, staune wer will, kam aus dem heißen und trockenen Nahen Osten. Die
israelische Firma "Bermad" erhielt den Auftrag für die Bereitstellung einer
Kunst-Schnee-Maschine, die sowohl die Quantität als auch die Qualität des
Schnees für einen Wettkampf der Weltklasse garantiert. Die im Kibbuz Evron
bei Nahariya ansässige Firma stellt seit über 40 Jahren Wasserarmaturen her
und hat sich auf Automatisierungstechniken spezialisiert. Im Kibbuz
beschäftigt Bermad 350 Mitarbeiter. Weltweit gibt es sieben weitere
Niederlassungen. Die Technologie wird in Israels eigenem Ski-Gebiet auf dem
Hermon leider nicht zum Einsatz kommen. Die klimatischen Bedingungen bringen
die großen Mengen Schnee unmittelbar nach der Produktion zum Schmelzen,
erklärte Rafi Ovadia.

Israeli technology provides snow for winter-Olympics in Turin

Imagine winter-olympics and no snow. This was what worried the organizers of this year's olympic games in Turin, scheduled for February 10th. The solution came from the hot and dry Middle East. The Israeli Company "Bermad" , which has been specializing for some 40 years in the production of automation- and water-appliance technologies, developed a machine, which can produce artificial snow in the appropriate quantity and quality to guarantee the event. The firm is located in Kibbutz Evron close to Naharyah, has some 350 employees and 7 overseas branches. Unfortunately, the technology will not be used on Israel's own skiing- region, the Hermon, where, the now would be melting right away, due to the climate.
